I did not like this dvd it was boring. a little too boring. You want someone to be excited and joyous about learning a dance this dvd did not give that. While Jenna was standing by a mirror in a dance studio somewhere she was boring the crap out of me. I finished watching this dvd to see if it ever got better, it didn’t.

I do not feel enough material was covered. You could get the same instruction from another instructional which is not extremely boring for half the price. There was no performance at the end where you can put it all together and practice on your own.Incorporating all of the movements into a dance sequence is important because it helps the dancer get better at being fluid with dance moves. And putting moves into a fluid dance. Why was there no choreography?

I have many instructional dvd’s and for absolute beginners I would not choose this one. I would recommend Neena and Veena basic dance and beyond basic dance. They seem to be wonderful teachers and explain things nicely.

Lovely costumes and personality. No standing in front of boring mirrors

I think in order to like this video you would have to have never had any other bellydancing experience you would have to be a beginner’s beginner, even then you would probably get bored. I truly don’t understand why so many people gave it high ratings. I think it covers the basics but not beyond. While I may not like this one Jenna does have some nice dvd’s heartbeat of bellydance and the next level are both good.

I was looking to purchase an exercise video that features Belly Dance; however, I found this DVD to be more useful for those who want to learn the detailed steps to maybe perform for themselves.

The information on the disc was excellent, but I couldn’t get it to play on all of my DVD players for some reason. I requested a return/replacement, and received it, but the new disc they sent wouldn’t play on any of my DVD players. I ended up keeping the original disc.

Belly Dancing is supposed to be very fluid. Although this is a basic instructional video, it could use some improvement. For starter’s the instructor’s physique doesn’t demonstrate the movements with definition or fluidity. She stands in front of a mirror panel with her back to you through most of the tedious 2.5 hours of instruction. The camera doesn’t offer views from different angles or even close-ups. It could use a group type setting for the very moderate 25 min “work out”. The instructor’s verbal delivery is sometimes disjointed and lacks luster. I’ve plugged it in once and am not very motivated to use it again.

  5. I wanted to try bellydancing was too nervous to go to a class. After doing some research, I discovered there are A LOT of instructional DVDs out there. I took my chance with this one and am glad I did.

I like the style in which this woman teaches. It’s slow enough to pick on relatively quickly and, at the same time, it feels really authentic. I have done this DVD several times and have not gotten bored. Bravo to Jenna for putting together such a wonderful DVD.
